"AS A KID WE ALL WANT TO GROW UP TO BE AN ATHLETE.
NOW AT LEAST EXPERIENCE BEING ONE."
The story behind why we started Run De Globe.
First of all, we love to travel and we also happen to love sports. We, the group of friends who founded RDG, just started running recently partially because we need to. Our pants size were scarily a larger number than our age, which is fine if you are a young energetic 24 years old but not so much if you are closer to 40 than you are to 30. Unfortunately, we've spent quite a fortune in trying to lose some weight by joining fancy gyms to no avail. The belly didn't shrink, but our wallets surely felt so much lighter. So when one of our friends suggested we tried running because it was the cheapest and fastest way to lose some weight, we went all out.
But just like it's a tradition for gyms to sell a lot of memberships in the beginning of the year but still no one goes by April, we know we needed added incentives to keep running. That's when we decided to start running races. We know we would never win any race, no matter how intensive we train for it. In fact we figured that the only way we could've won is if we take a bike into a running race! But even then, against some of the Kenyan runners we've seen run, that wouldn't guarantee victory. Thank God for finisher medals!
Yet since we live in Indonesia, the races are few and the finishers medal are not the greatest in the world, we need to travel the region to get something better. Throughout our travels, we realized that a lot of people do travel from wherever they live in search for a good race, a fun running experience, and of course a cool looking finishers medal. So to help like minded people, we decided to start Run de Globe.
While we try to run in add many races as possible, life sometimes intervene. So if you can't catch us in one of the races, give us a shout out at email@example.com. We will try to answer every emails, inputs, suggestions, and critics personally but please understand if it takes them some time to do that.
Until then, thanks and happy Running!
